Amongst the many more amazing news we could share with you, we are very pleased to share with you the recent launch of the WIA Mentoring program with Deloitte.
On October 21st and 22nd, 30 mentors and 30 mentees took part in two intense days of preparing for the journey they have chosen to embark on as either mentors or mentees for the sake of their professional development. Some of the many countries represented were, Mali, Kenya, Nigeria, Morocco, Mauritania, Somalia, Burundi, Central African Republic, and Senegal
The participants of the program increased their understanding of the benefits of mentorship and took advantage of the opportunity to be face-to-face with one another to build their relationship. Some of the key takeaways were that it is important that men also participate in the mentoring of women as it helps to create a safe space to address gender equality and increase male-allyship.
According to a Bloomberg article, companies that excel in increasing gender equality and equity have employees that have better experiences than their counterparts at other companies that have not yet prioritized gender equality.
