Coordinator of Association des Femmes Peules et Peuples Autochtones du Tchad (AFPAT)

Known for her unfailing commitment to environmental protection, this Chadian and Fulani travels to international climate summits to plead the cause of Chad’s indigenous populations, victims of global warming. Coming from the nomadic Mbororo community, she created in 1999 the association of indigenous Fulani women of Chad for the protection of the environment and the defence of nomadic rights. She is also the representative of the Sahel region on the Executive Committee of the Coordinating Committee of Indigenous Peoples of Africa. She is a member of the Climate & Development Network as well as the national committee of REDD+ Chad. She is Co-Chair of the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA). Hindou OUMAROU IBRAHIM coordinated the global preparation and negotiation of COP21 and the indigenous peoples’ pavilion. In November 2017, she receives the “Danielle Mitterrand France-Libertés Special Prize”.
She joined our network of Ambassadors in 2017.
