Societe Generale is demonstrating its commitment to the fight against the spread of Covid-19 with the implementation of a specific programme for the African continent, the first stage of which is a €1.5 million donation to the association Médecins sans Frontières (MSF).

The Societe Generale Foundation has joined forces with its partners Aurore, Emmaüs Solidarité and the Samusocial de Paris to support their activities in sheltering and housing precarious people during this crisis.

With the confinement, pupils who were fragile at school level were at greater risk of educational disruption due to a lack of follow-up or adequate equipment to continue their distance learning. Societe Generale will enable the Apprentis d’Auteuil and SOS Children’s Villages associations to provide these centres with the educational, digital, recreational and health equipment necessary to maintain the link between school and families.

For many people, the cessation of economic activity means a loss of jobs and income, and consequently great food insecurity. To make up for these shortfalls, Emmaus Défi and the Restos du Cœur are more mobilised than ever and have received exceptional support from the Societe Generale Foundation.

The Société Générale Group has also pledged to contribute one million euros to the “Tous unis contre le virus” alliance, supported by the Fondation de France, the AP-HP and the Pasteur Institute.



L’Oréal’s plants manufacture large quantities of hand disinfectants to meet the needs of French and European health authorities.

Garnier will distribute several million units of hand sanitizer free of charge to all of its European food distribution customers so that their employees, who continue to work to meet the basic needs of consumers, can protect themselves by following recommended precautions.

The L’Oréal Foundation has decided to donate one million euros to partner NGOs committed to the fight against insecurity. These non-profit organisations supported throughout the year by the L’Oréal Foundation will also be offered hygiene kits (shower gel and shampoo) and hand sanitizer for social workers, volunteers and beneficiaries.

La Roche-Posay will equip all partner hospitals, nursing homes and major partner pharmacies in Europe with a hand disinfectant. The brand already supplies bottles free of charge to French pharmacies, which can produce their own disinfectants.



Lenovo‘s philanthropic response is currently valued at more than $12 million in three critical areas: supporting distance learning, providing technology and personal protective equipment to hospitals, and providing general community support in areas where employees live and work.

The Total Foundation is helping those on the front line in the fight against Covid-19. In France, we have decided to provide exceptional support of €5 million to the Institut Pasteur and the hospital and health associations involved in the fight against Covid-19.

Honoris United Universities have developed a 3D printed respirator to support global efforts to combat VID19. They have collaborated with the best engineers, scientists, researchers and health professionals in the network and academic partners to create a potentially life-saving device in the fight against VID19.

Within the Honoris network, three health innovations from the Moroccan School of Engineering Sciences (EMSI) – Morocco’s largest engineering school, were selected in a pan-African hackathon (Marocovid 19) involving students, start-ups, entrepreneurs, professors and engineers.

“African Saviour, for example, uses drones to deploy nasal swabs and other coronavirus diagnostic kits to doctors in remote rural areas.

In South Africa, REGENT Business School, which is also part of the Honoris network, has produced face shields and splash masks using 3D printed parts in its three iLeadLABs – in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town – and distributes them free of charge to selected public health facilities.



Gfi, in partnership with Tous pour la Santé, Dr François Sarkozy’s TV show and website, is providing its expertise and Botfoundry technology to make available to the general public a chatbot answering the many legitimate questions about the Covid-19 epidemic and its implications.

In order to provide the best possible assistance to healthcare personnel, the Group is graciously offering the Assistance Publique des Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) the possibility of managing a few hundred additional beds thanks to its Actipidos Patient Record Management application. By mid-March, the epidemic in Spain had reached a critical threshold and was overwhelming hospital resources. A group of professionals from Deloitte Spain led by Álvaro Reymundo began 3D printing hundreds of pieces of medical equipment in their spare time, including protective kits and alternative breathing equipment for use by hospitals and government officials.

Meridiam contributed to fight Covid-19 crisis in all its geographies (Europe, Africa and Americas). In the health sector, and among various initiatives: more than 2500 beds are mobilized and dedicated to crisis (especially in Turkey, Chile and United Kingdom), trains were medicalized in France to transport patients, a dozen sites are used as testing centers in Canada and United Kingdom, research on medications and vaccines are ongoing at CR-CHUM in Canada and finally the firm contributed to provide critical equipment to Africa with its partner Arise (7 million masks, 230,000 desinfectant gels, 500,000 pairs of gloves, 50 ventilators). Meridiam also implemented charitable initiatives and government funding to support the economy : over 500 000€ in donations and food charity support to serve thousands of meals.
