Akiatu Joyce Macfoy currently works for UNICEF Sierra Leone as a Programme Associate. She has experiences in Gender and Development Programmes, Social Protection, Child Protection, Education for Development and Entrepreneurship.

She holds a Bachelor with Honors Degree in Library, Information, Communication and Knowledge Management an MA in Gender Studies both from Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone. She is currently enrolled at the Njala University Sierra Leone pursuing a Master’s in Education with an advanced option in Measurement and Evaluation.

Her background in Education, Child Protection, and Women’s’ Empowerment informs her mindful but competitive approach. She is fueled by her passion for understanding the nuances of cross-cultural working environment and teamwork. She considers herself a ‘forever student,’ eager to both build on her academic foundations in Education, Social Policy, Knowledge Management, Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection. As an entrepreneur, she is the CEO of WAGIKEH Essential Cleaning Services where she provides essential cleaning solutions to offices, Business places, schools etc so that she can contribute to a clean and healthy environment. Her goal in life is to be useful to others, for her that is the ultimate success. She studies to become useful, to develop skills that others need so she can be in a position to always give a helping hand.
