Mariam Momodu is a lawyer, academic and education advocate who provides legal adviceto African entrepreneurs as well as foreign businesses seeking to invest in Africa. Mariam also invests in African talents by helping talented Africans access education opportunities.
She is qualified to practice in Ontario and Nigeria. Currently, she practices corporate and commercial law at Dentons Canada LLP, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and technology, as well as international trade and investment.
Actively involved in various professional and community organizations, Mariam serves as a member of the Technical Subcommittee of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group. She isalso a director of the Black Female Lawyers Network in Canada. Furthermore, Mariam is the founder of GetIn Education Consulting, a social enterprise dedicated to equipping young individuals from underrepresented backgrounds with the skills and knowledge necessary to access quality education on a global scale.
Mariam’s contributions to the fields of law, development, and education have garnered recognition and accolades. She was honored by CIBWE as one of the 100 Black Women toWatch in Canada and acknowledged by McKinsey and Co. as one of the 40 NextGeneration Women Leaders in Nigeria. Mariam was recognized as an Emerging AfricanScholar by the University of Toronto African Alumni Association and received the Social Impact Award at the Study UK Alumni Awards.
With her knowledge and experience, Mariam is frequently sought after as a speaker onmatters relating to law, international trade, business and human capital development inAfrica, and she uses her platform to communicate her passion for driving prosperity inAfrica, while challenging others to do the same.
