Messina Guikoume

Founder and CEO of MESSIBAT INTERNATIONAL

Business leader and civil engineer, graduate of the Ecole des Jeunes Dirigeants du bâtiment de Manosque in France, Messina Guikoume is a fervent activist for sustainable development and climate change as well as for women entrepreneurship in Africa. Born in France (Le Havre) of Cameroonian mother and father, she is French of Cameroonian/Burkinabe origin.

Her maternal grandparents, including her grandfather who was one of the very first officers of the Cameroonian Gendarmerie, passed on to her all the values of a courageous, hard-working, resilient woman, which she uses today, to make her contribution to the construction of a better Africa.

Her schooling began in Europe, specifically in France and England, continued in the United States and ended with several diplomas, including that of Civil Engineer.  Ambitious and full of determination, Messina is a woman who, while assuming with rigor her role of entrepreneur, raises with love and rigor her three children. She also stands out for the multiple concrete actions she carries out in the framework of sustainable development and the fight against climate change in Africa, precisely in the field of ecological construction and bioclimatic architecture, a sector that still has very few women because it is essentially invested by men. But she holds the torch and does not stop to encourage African women to undertake and especially to become financially autonomous.

In 2008, she created Messibat International, a company specialized in ecological and bioclimatic construction in France and Africa, with simple but very efficient processes using local materials such as straw, bamboo or stone.

Messibat International is present in several African countries: Togo, Cameroon, Ivory Coast and also in Europe: France and England. Messibat International is certified by the Solar Impulse Foundation which mission is to select 1000 sustainable solutions for the global protection of the environment.
