Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute (EPRI)
Walaa got her PhD degree in chemistry 2020 and has been working as a researcher at Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute since 2013.
Her teaching experience was enhanced by my role as a demonstrator at the Faculty of Science, Kafr Elsheikh University-Egypt, from 2011 to 2013. From 2022 to 2023, she served as an academic mentor and supervisor for graduation projects of MSA and BUE students.
Throughout her career, she has been involved in multiple research projects that funded by STDF projects and ASRT as PI and member. Her research focuses on material science and nano polymeric composites, particularly their applications in environmentally impacted sectors such as toxic gases sensors and water management.
From 2016 to 2018, she was a visiting researcher at Waterloo University, Canada, focusing on MEMS technology transfer as part of the ASRT-JESOR project.
She is a board member of the EPRI central laboratories and supervise the Ball Mill and Raman Labs. Additionally, she volunteer as a scientific judge for various competitions, including FLL and EISEF, reflecting her commitment to nurturing young scientific talent.
She has participated in numerous international conferences and workshops and have been active in developing entrepreneurship skills through various workshops and training programs, demonstrating her interest in translating research findings into practical, marketable products. She is also a member of EPRI-ECLUB for entrepreneurship.
She is the founder of SciMediator startup, a digital platform that connect researchers with their facilities and mentorships, and is selcted for encubation from ITIDA as a top performane startup at Heya Raeda program for entrepreneurs 2023.
