Women in Africa (WIA) Initiative showcases extraordinary women’s networks around the world. All of them, in their own way, are helping to make a big difference for talented African women who are committed to positively transforming the continent.
Let’s focus on three of them:

 

 

WIC – Women Investment Club Senegal

 

Created in 2016, the Women Investment Club Senegal offers a response to the weakness of proposals for projects funding run by women.

Profile

  • Why:
    Today, with existing financing modes, women do not have enough opportunities to achieve their potential.
  • For who:
    Women who wish to invest and to become entrepreneur!
  • How :
    • Creation of exchange networks and knowledge sharing of financing mechanisms offered on the market, and the opportunities that the financial market could generate.
    • Through productive capital raising and creation of added value for the economy and development of Africa.
    • Establishment of an educational platform for the increasing and massive participation of women in the financial sector.

WIMBIZ

 

Based in Nigeria and established in 2001, WIMBIZ is a pioneering network that represents the voice of women in business.

Profile:

  • Why :
    To encourage a better representation of women in top management position, so that their influence in the great orientations decided by Nigerian organizations can expend. WIMBIZ educate, elevate, help networking.
  • For who :
    Women who wish to be accompanied in their way to reach top management position, or top managers who wish to benefit from a network.
  • Zone of action :
    Networking / Training
  • 3 strengths :
    During the last sixteen years, WIMBIZ has implemented various programs to inspire and encourage a better representation of women in the top management of Public / Private sector organizations.

Tanzania Women of Achievement (TWA)

 

Founded in 2009, the TWA Initiative Awards, values and “mentors” every year the most outstanding and accomplished women in Tanzania, having not only succeeded in their respective fields but also brought significant change to their communities and the society in general.

Profile:

  • Why :
    Consolidate the roles and skills of women in the Tanzanian community by enhancing their social, political, economic and cultural participation.
  • For who :
    Innovative leaders, communities, NGOS, government, private sector and external donors to build effective institutions and to contribute to revolutionary transformations.
  • How :
    • TWA leads awareness campaigns, training seminars, conferences and workshops that promote exchange of information and mentoring for young Tanzanian girls and Tanzanian women
    • The award ceremony is followed by a mentoring program that engages youth emerging leaders from different regions of the country, twinning with women in business and policy as mentors for a month. young mentorees have the tools necessary to develop their leadership competencies to help them institute positive change in their communities.
  • Zone of action:
    Women’s and men’s rights, gender equity, economic commitment and sociopolitical participation.
