What did the program do for you?
The JAMII Femmes program has been very beneficial for me on several levels. Firstly, the HONORIS training course, which taught me how to manage the company’s staff and customers, and which is now helping me a great deal in managing my business. Then there was BOOTCAMP, where we were trained and advised by experienced trainers and coaches on very important modules for the proper management and development of our business. Sharing experiences with the other prizewinners was very interesting, and then the prize at the end, which I wasn’t expecting at all, because there were so many interesting projects.
What did you accomplish with the $10,000 grant?
As soon as the money was available, I bought a plot of over half a hectare to build the breeding buildings. Before JAMII, I used to rent farms for my rearing, which had a very negative impact on my business, as the buildings on these farms are generally chicken rearing buildings, and therefore not suitable for turkey rearing. I therefore have a lot of problems with viral diseases, which cost me a lot of turkeys and money. After the sale at the end of 2023, I started work on the buildings on this new plot. In other words, thanks to this prize, KOUNADY poultry now has its own farm.
What are your perspectives for the months and years to come?
Over the next few months, we plan to build the buildings on this plot, which can accommodate 4 buildings of 2,500 turkeys each. This will enable us to increase production from 2,000 to 10,000 turkeys to meet the ever-increasing demand. If all goes well, we’ll be able to move into the new site in 4 months, and by the end of 2024 we’ll be able to raise 10,000 turkeys per strip instead of the current 2,000, and increase our turnover from 35,000,000 FCFA to over 150,000,000 FCFA.
A message you’d like to share to the continent’s women entrepreneurs.
Once you’ve been selected for the JAMII program, you’ve already won. The first prize is the quality of the training, the coaching and the opportunity to meet beautiful, talented women entrepreneurs. So I encourage all women entrepreneurs in Africa to sign up for the JAMII FEMMES program, where you don’t lose, you always win. My last words go to the JAMII team, I thank you for this initiative that encourages and boosts us women entrepreneurs, I urge you to always continue this program and pray to the Lord to always send you donors to support your program.
